Thousands are now enjoying financial freedom because of affiliate marketing. In fact, some have become millionaires after a few years. If you are intrigued, I guess its high time you learn more about it.

Affiliate marketing is an online marketing practice wherein a business rewards one or more affiliates for each customer that were brought about by the marketing efforts of an affiliate or another business. These businesses form an intricate web wherein they direct visitors from one site to another through aggressive online marketing, organic search engine optimization, or paid search engine marketing. Also, they oftentimes make favorable reviews of the products of their affiliates, thus increasing awareness of the product and Internet traffic to their affiliate’s website.

It may sound complex, but the concept is easy to grasp. It is just a profit sharing venture between a website owner and an online merchant (or the one who sells the product). By placing several advertisements on their own websites, the website sends the visitors and potential customers to another affiliate’s website (the one that sells the product), in exchange for a share of profits.

There are three common ways to earn money through affiliate marketing:

Pay Per Click or Cost per Click (CPC) — You earn by the amount of visitors who went to your website and clicked the advertisement that lead to the merchant’s website. You can either be paid monthly or daily depending on the contract or amount of commission.

Pay Per Sale or Cost per Sale (CPS)— You earn every time a sale of the product is made due to your marketing efforts.

Pay Per Lead or Cost per Action (CPA) — You earn every time a potential client registers at the merchant’s website due to the marketing efforts of the website owner.

For several website owners, affiliate marketing is a great way to earn money without investing too much time and effort. All it take is to place ads on your website and hope that visitors would go to the merchant ‘s website that would lead up to a sale or registering an account in the merchant’s website. Once you’ve set up a good strategy, your financial account would certainly fatten up.

This kind of marketing is also beneficial to the merchant. By participating on this kind of online marketing, he gets free advertisement of his products. So that means that he would spend less on advertisements, and spend more on product research and enhancement.

These past few years, merchants or product vendors are now favoring affiliate marketing and integrating it in their over-all marketing strategy. Instead of paying millions of dollars in TV and print advertisements, they now resort to aggressive online marketing strategy that is following the “pay for performance” model. Thus, the business does not incur any marketing expenses unless there are results made by a certain affiliate website.

Also, the good thing about affiliate marketing is that you could do this at your own time and at your own pace. Of course, the more time you invest in this venture, the more money you earn. And if you’ve become really successful, you could quit your day job and focus more on online marketing.
